"This is not in the strictest definition fanfiction, spec, slash, yaoi, etc., but it is not what I could morally call original work either. It is a fusion of influences that takes little work to write, as all I have to do is combine the separate influences, twist them around and choose the words to express the story. The plot itself is based loosely on the movies Spies Like Us and Jurassic Park (more loser heroes than nature vs meddling in God's domain). The setting (time, culture, races and some terminology) is taken from Tolkien's work, mostly The Lord of the Rings. The characters on the other hand are like very Alternative Universe versions of those from Shin Kidousenki Gundam Wing. There may be an attempt at British humor along the way as well. And of course, 'dark themes'. I like angst, so the characters have rather dark pasts. And an unnatural percentage of characters are homosexual."
jana's note: 'rangers like us' is an absolutely wonderfully written and highly entertaining piece of work! while it is not technically a heero/duo fic, the characters seraph has created are easily recognizable and resemble them closely enough to qualify as AU..... imho, of course ^_~ a truly worthwhile read!!
